Rush Hour 3 opening

The Film opens to a wide angle shot tilting up from the city to show the scene better,
it has the producer names rolling over the top for about 10 seconds than it jump cuts closer to the buildings in the background than it jumps again closer but zooms in on two more specific buildings with more text (A Brett Ratner Film) and tilts in between the buildings  than cuts two a completely different scene of  a highway and the text put across is of the two main actors starring in the film Jackie Chan and Chris tucker, The text used on the opening 30 seconds is a bold text that is usually used In action films so the person watching may assume it is an high adrenalin pumping film. But also the music used in the 30 seconds is medium pace  it can be linked to spy films and others genre so the person
watching will link the action writing and music and  know what the genre is at the beginning.
When it is filming the highway it show how the next scene links to the traffic built up on the highway
but as it zooms in closer to the highway the main title come up in red lettering Rush hour 3 the red can
symbolise the violence that is to later appear in the film.

After the Rush hour logo slowly fades out there is a high angle shot of a street jam packed
With cars and as It tilts down it give a birds eye view of the cause of the problem the one of the main characters dancing listing to an iPod and Directing traffic. But as It is playing and the cars are going passed him the editor have put the names on the cars so the go along with the cars to make it look a lot better. This scene also set the genre for the whole film because it adds a level of comical effect to the film so it has 3 genres in it action crime and comedy this is all seen in the opening with the text the character body language and for the crime he is dressed as a policeman so it is automatically  assumed.

There are a number of camera angles  used in the next 30 seconds on the main character
A range of close ups are used to show his facial expressions as he is sing to engage the
audience with a comical side, than the camera jumps behind the main character and is a medium
shot because he is dancing show it shows what he is doing at this moment but the camera also jump
cuts to the left of him and is a close up of his face every time it cuts to the left  it is a close
up and every it cuts to the back it is medium shot and when it comes to the front again it is long shot
to show a in a wide range what he is doing to help the audience.

After the long shot it jumps cuts to 2 cars colliding it than jumps back to the main characters
close up to show his reaction and show more comical work when he takes of his headphones and his
facial expressions. The producer adds a very good comical effect by making the main character blame
his surroundings than himself, before it moves onto the spy action genre part of the film witch follows
and it alternates quite frequently between the genres and even integration them in a scene.

What also shows of the genres of the films is the costumes such as the police uniform and the
bodyguard suits and also the facial expressions and body language.
The setting shows where it is set (Los angles) and many of the props such as the cars,
iPods and mobile phone to show it is up to date on the times.

The sound that opens with a spy themed music song witch is non- Diegetic   because it does not
come from a source on screen but his music helps the audience help link to the genre of the film.
This music is supposed to add suspense of the film.
There is also diegetic sound used in the opening there are a lot of car horns surrounding the traffic
to emphasize how chaotic the scene is from what the main character is doing.
Also there is music playing from an iPod that can be faintly herd and the main character is singing to it, It is also diegetic because it is coming fro the iPod and he is singing. This is portrayed by the director
to put forward the comical fun side of the film along side the spy action this music adds irony to the main character because the song is about loving someone and he has had know one over the films.
From the opening it show where the film at the beginning is being set Los angels
The costumes plays an important role in the genre of the film at the beginning the police uniforms and secret service uniforms defiantly show.
There are not many  props in the opening just hundreds of the cars to show the area he is in is busies and that it is a crowded street and show
what type of police man carter is.
The lighting in this scene is mostly natural light to show that the time of day is late morning maybe afternoon  this also leads to the amount
of cars on the road underlining the title rush hour. The colours of the uniforms in the scene are a dark blue/black which shows authority and power from the police uniform and also the secrecy in the
bodyguards. The positioning of the main character  Carter  is right in the centre of the all the camera shots  and is the first person in the shots witch Emphasises
he is one of the main characters  because he is the first one two talk as well. Plus you can people in the cars but they are blurred out around him so your attention is focused on carter making him seem the most important person at this time.
There are only a few different types of editing used in the opening what is mostly used is jump cuts between
the shots which make the transaction smooth because it goes from a medium to a close in the cut.
There are no match on actions because there are no lines of dialogue between to people in the opening.

I looked at this opening to see how they incorperated the titles over the film also it is a smilliar genre to our film a crime thrillar.
